about

The Cycle is an album that centers on breaking the cycle of poverty and violence. Growing up in gang infested neighborhoods, and a home filled with domestic violence, the rapper/producer turned to making music to distract him from the pain. This is the story of the process that made the artist.

WordPlay T.JAY is now getting more personal and taking his music into spaces he hasn't traveled to. He delivers more melody with witty lyricism. Instead of giving the story verbatim he now takes you on a journey through his words. After decades of sitting in the pews the choirboy has grown up, grabbed a microphone, and taken control of his fate.

WordPlay T.JAY – Plot Lines
[Intro]
Yeah x3
[Verse – WordPlay T.JAY]
Let me stop time to plot lines
Way before MySpace and dot coms
Way before dorm rooms and Top Ram…
Way before the first time I got some
I cheated on Judy with Dominique
I cheated on them with pen and ink
I keep writing all these necessary verses
And I’m hurting folks on purpose just to try to find my purpose.
Now ain’t that some sick shit to swallow.
Let me drink all this Nyquil I borrowed
Cause when I write it’s not numbing all the pain
And my only motivation is to be a better man
So line after line I keep scripting
Just change up the plot that I’m living
Not to mention my abusive step father
Just to keep the demons sober I’m a take some Holy water
[Hook – WordPlay T.JAY]x2
Down by the River,
Wash my soul, wash my soul
Wash my soul.
[Verse 2]
Let me stop time to plot lines
Way before hot blondes and cold bars
Way before lemon drops and mudslides
Way before Bedstuy and sold cars
Wrote about 40 verses a week
Cause life had me begging to God, please!
Wiped too many tears on my sleeve
And fought too many nights with no sleep.
But ain’t no stopping this King Arthur
Sit the round table in the kitchen
I’m carving David out of marble
Start scripting all of my best visions
Start ripping, all of the best riddles
And to the world I’m just Malcolm in the Middle
Screaming black power with no power
All of these bars with no towers
[Hook]
[Poem]
The clock of the angels runs forever,
And God smiles on the newborn child.
The camera sounds loud when the pictures in style.
Can you see it?
I would spend a week just to be unique,
And realize that I’ve been me.
No receipts, no repeats,
The story lies… within me.
